Swim West Lothian IM Tough Meet : Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd May

BASC had another very successful performance with 12 swimmers attending the Swim West Lothian (SWL) IM Tough Meet over the weekend of 20th – 22nd May at the Xcite Centre in Bathgate. BASC team members won a total of 15 medals over the weekend!

Rachel Christie set the tone in the first event on the Friday evening session setting an impressive new personal best in her 800m Freestyle event and collecting a Silver medal in the Girls 13yrs age category. Rachel also set a new personal best by 7.15 seconds in her 200m Breaststroke on the Sunday.

Kirstyn Calder had another great weekend in the Girls 14 yrs age category winning a Gold for her 100m, 200m & 400m Freestyle, a Silver for her 200m Backstroke and a Bronze in the 50m Fly events.

Meanwhile her brother, Douglas Calder won Silver in the 11 yrs & Under age group for his 200m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke.

Douglas and Dylan Christie both won a Silver in the 50m Breaststroke matching their finishing times of 44.15 secs to the millisecond. Dylan also collected Bronze as a result of his controlled 200m Breaststroke swim.

Niamh Tierney did well winning Gold in the Girls 12 yrs 200m Backstroke as well as a Silver in the 100m Backstroke and Bronze in both the 100m & 200m Freestyle, as well as taking over four seconds off of her 200m Breaststroke entry time.

Significant PB’s set included:
Alicia Evans improvement on her 200m Breaststroke swim by 2.13 seconds.
Cara Farquharson made progress in her 50m Breaststroke setting a new personal best.
Alice Knight made a credible improvement in her 200m Backstroke by 4.05 seconds from her entry time.
Rahul Kishore improved on his 50m Freestyle entry time, as did Fionnlagh McGuire in his 200m Freestyle.
Abby Keeble made progress in her tough 100m Fly swim by 0.71 seconds.
Joy Drummond also placed a respectable time on the Sunday afternoon in her 50m Breaststroke just over her personal best.
