InCAS Distance Meet – 14th & 15th May

A very freindly InCAS (Inverkeithing Competitive Amateur Swimmers) Distance Meet was held over the weekend of 14th May at the Carnegie Leisure Centre, Dunfermline. BASC had 10 swimmers attending from Silver and Gold squads with swimmers, coaches and parents alike enjoying the well organized event. All the swimmers put in great individual efforts and together each contributed significantly towards a great overall team performance.

Douglas Calder had an outstanding weekend winning 5 Gold medals and setting new PB’s in all of his events, smashing his previous best time in the 400m Freestyle by 25.52 secs!

Fionnlagh McGuire won Bronze for his 200m Backstroke, and had the biggest PB of the weekend with a 30.00 sec improvement for his 200m IM time.

Sarah Coffey swam really well in the 800m Freestyle completing the race in just over 11 mins; her first time swimming that distance competitively and the only BASC swimmer to take part in that event. She also achieved some big PB’s in her 200m Backstroke improving by 14.90 secs and in her 200m Freestyle by 4.85 secs, finishing in 4th and 5th place respectively.

Also in the medals, Liam Murphy took 7 secs off of his 200m Breaststroke time to take Silver, with his biggest PB of the event coming on Sunday afternoon beating his previous 200m Backstroke time by 8.26 secs.

Every swimmer set new PB’s in most if not all of their events, and each certainly benefited from the support and encouragement they gave each other poolside. Noteworthy PB’s beyond those already mentioned included;

Dylan Christie improved on his 400m Freestyle time by 11.60 secs.
Joy Drummond beat her 200m Freestyle time by 17.04 secs and her 200m Backstroke by 12.78 secs.
Eilidh Gorton did well beating her previous 200m Backstroke time by 21.69 secs and took 14.63 secs off her 200m Breaststroke time.
Abby Keeble was another swimmer setting big PB’s, improving on her 200m IM by 23.31 secs, and taking 10.49 secs of her 200m Backstroke.
Rahul Kishore also set new PB’s in all of his swims, with his biggest improvement being 8.28 secs for his 400m Freestyle.
Similarly James Osborne set new PB’s in both of his events, with his biggest improvement being 8.75 secs in his 200m Breaststroke.

All in all a great event for BASC!

As usual many thanks to the coaches; Sandy Stephen, Ross Stephen and Elaine Coffey attending. Also to the parent helpers Mike Calder & Ali McGuire as timekeepers, Jane Murphy & Valerie Christie judge training and Linda Keeble recording results.
