FIRST Chair

PURPOSE

To ensure that the Club is effectively represented on the FIRST Committee and that the needs of BASC swimmers are taken into consideration in all decisions made regarding the FIRST programme. To ensure that the FIRST programme is run effectively and efficiently whilst providing a safe environment for all.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • To attend and represent BASC at all FIRST meetings, including their AGM
  • To fulfil one of the key roles on the FIRST Committee (Chair, Treasurer or Secretary) – subject of a separate FIRST Role Description
  • Be completely familiar with the BASC and FIRST constitutions, rules, policies, committee procedures and the Scottish Swimming rules and regulations
  • Report back to the BASC Committee regarding FIRST business
  • Provide information regarding FIRST achievements for inclusion in BASC Newsletters, Facebook etc.
  • Support and encourage the work of all involved in FIRST and BASC
  • Promote the need for regular training for all staff
  • Follow and promote the SASA Child Protection policy

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a member of Scottish Swimming
  • Attend appropriate training
  • Sign and adhere to the Club’s Volunteer Code of Conduct

Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop (renewable every 3 years)

 

TIME COMMITMENT

Time commitment can vary dependent on size and nature of club, and events attending.
